GoingGear.com has collaborated with a cerakoting provider to offer an exclusive series of cerakoted flashlights. GoingGear is one of the most popular flashlight and general EDC (everyday carry) stores, and has a wonderful showroom that everyone with the chance should check out.
Olight loves to do limited edition lights in new colors, but this time these are GoingGear exclusives! Previously offered by GoingGear was the Olight Seeker 2 cerakoted with an American flag theme and the Olight S1R II Baton in Multicam Black.
Now they’ve quietly released a couple more exclusive cerakoted Olights in new colors.
First up, we have the Olight S1r Baton II in “Midnight Camo”. It’s not an official Multicam pattern, it almost looks like it’s the Multicam Black but faded to a lighter color
Multicam is a camouflage pattern designed in 2002 by Crye Precision for the US Army. There’s a family of patterns, including the Multicam Black that the previous Olight S1R II featured, but this midnight camo isn’t one of them. It almost looks like a muted version of the MCB, it’s pretty neat look. There haven’t been a lot (or any) flashlights with a Multicam finish, we’re glad to see it happen.
Cerakote is a ceramic based finish that enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness. Also, cerakoted flashlights just look cool!
The next few flashlights are also in a camoflauge pattern similar to Multicam but in colorways not part of the Multicam family of patterns. Reminiscent of the General Purpose Uniform of the Royal Australian Air Force, this unnamed pattern appears to be Multicam based with shades of blue. As of now this pattern is available on the Olight i3T 180 lumen AAA flashlight and on the Olight M2R Warrior Pro rechargeable flashlight
GoingGear also released a third colorway for the Olight S1R II Baton in Battle Worn Blue. Not a camouflage, the Battle Worn Blue finish is a rich blue finish with darkened areas to mimic wear and dirt. GoingGear is donating a portion of all proceeds from the sale of the Olight S1R Baton II Battle Worn Blue Cerakote to benefit law enforcement and first responders. The specifics are not disclosed on their website.
There hasn’t been a lot of talk about these GoingGear custom cerakoted Olights in the EDC world but we’re glad to see these new finishes happen. The only other brand we’re aware of that’s currently offering cerakoted flashlights is Fenix. The Fenix Elite Cerakote series comes in a wide variety of finishes and unlike the GoingGear series, some of them Fenix is available on Amazon. Namely, the Fenix PD35 v2 in a digital camo finish, and the Fenix PD35 Tac in an interesting green and brown dominated woodland finish.
