RovyVon, a popular maker of many small EDC lights has hit the market with a “Hybrid” flashlight. Two body colors are currently available – Desert Tan (below) and black (above).
Hybrid means something specific – in this case, it means that there are multiple power sources. And not just multiple of “two”… First of all, there’s a built-in LiPO battery. It’s small, at 330mAh. But it’s a great backup. Secondly, there’s a battery compartment, which holds a single AA-sized cell. Not only will this hold an AA cell, it’ll also work with lithium-ion (14500), too!
Here’s a better view of the power system.
RovyVon built the H3 Pro to switch seamlessly between these two power sources.
The RovyVon H3 Pro is sized much like common mobile devices.
A battery indicator on the side of the RovyVon H3 Pro tells the user which cell type is powering the emitter at any time. Green means that the replaceable cell is being used, while blue indicates the light has switched over to the internal LiPO.
There are two switches on the light – a “tactical tail switch” which is very proud and accessible. And (seen above), a side e-switch.
RovyVon uses a Cree XP-L HI emitter in the H3 Pro, which is a great choice for output and throw.
The H3 Pro is available now for around $50.
